While the 7th edition happened under the hybrid format, from 21st to 23rd of April 2021, having the Opening Ceremony live in Maputo, in closed doors due to Covid-19 rules, and broadcasted online for the virtual participants, the 8th edition of MMEC will return to the capital of Mozambique on the 29th – 30th of March 2022 under the theme “Sustainable development across the entire mineral and energy value chain”

MMEC 2021 was officially opened by H.E. Filipe Nyusi, the President of Mozambique, with H.E. Ernesto Max Tonela, Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy. The Opening Ceremony was held at the Joaquim Chissano Conference Centre on 21 April 2021 in closed doors.
